چکیده

This document aims to provide a framework for the support of wireless LANs (WLANs) in an IPv6-only environment. It is hoped that it will serve as an IPv6 WLAN design and implementation guide for readers that are unfamiliar with IPv6 and/or WLANs. The original focus for this document was to be on access control solutions but we have now expanded the scope to include all aspects of deploying IPv6 WLANs. While authentication and access control still remain a significant part of this deliverable, we also look at the issues in designing and implementing the WLAN together with IPv6 or MIPv6 specific issues that should be taken into consideration. We have also added a section on hardware and software availability. We also focus on IEEE 802.11 based WLANs since these are by far the most widely deployed and are certainly beginning to live up to the ‘wireless Ethernet’ tag. This is the second version of the deliverable

A new SDN-based framework for wireless local area networks

Nowadays wireless networks are becoming important in personal and public communication andgrowing very rapidly. Similarly, Software Dened Network (SDN) is an emerging approach to over-come challenges of traditional networks. In this paper, a new SDN-based framework is proposedto ne-grained control of 802.11 Wireless LANs. This work describes the benets of programmableAcc...

IPv6 Mobility in Cluster Based Heterogeneous Wireless Mesh Networks

We present a framework for IPv6 mobility support in Cluster Based Heterogeneous Wireless Mesh Networks. The framework inherits the design and the features from the trendy Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) which can provide network-based mobility to Mobile Nodes having standard IPv6 stack. Design and implementation details are described. We also present a virtualization method using User-mode Linux and...

Performance Evaluation of IPv4 and IPv6 Routing Protocols on Wired, Wireless and Hybrid Networks

A routing protocol is used to determine the optimal path to forward the packets from source to destination. A separate set of protocols is designed for IPv4 & IPv6 network such as RIP, OSPF-v2, RIPng, OSPF-v3, and AODV. IPv4 is replaced by IPv6 (next generation internet protocol), but both the protocols are not suitable for each other, due to this they need to coexist for a long time. In this p...

Fast and Efficient IP Handover in IEEE 802.11 Wireless LANs

This paper presents an effective and simple solution to the problem of Layer 3 (L3) handover in IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs (WLANs), so as to extend the IP mobility area of 802.11 wireless Stations (STAs). The IEEE 802.11f Inter-Access Point Protocol (IAPP), handles the Layer 2 (L2) mobility of STAs during L2 (intra-network) handovers, and offers IP connectivity via L2 specific methods. Instead o...
